Today Canon printers are as much a part of daily life as food and water are. This is because almost every individual has a lot of printing needs on a daily basis whether it is for home or business. Canon printer cartridges use bubble jet technology similar to hp ink or Lexmark printer ink cartridges. The bubble jet or thermal inkjet principle was discovered in August 1977 by a Canon engineer, Ichiro Endo. Basically, the cartridges dispense bubbles of ink through the nozzle when the cartridge is heated. As with anything technological, you have to understand how a product works to make it work for you at its best performance. So here is a guide for everything you need to know about your canon printer cartridges.
The first is replacing the cartridge in a canon inkjet printer. Turn on the Canon printer and open the lid. Wait for a few seconds so the cartridge would automatically disengage. Now, slide your hand at the back of the cartridge to be replaced and pull it towards you until it pops out. Then, pull off the tape from the new cartridge. Put the new cartridge in the cartridge carrier and ensure that it is in the right position wait until it clicks in place. Close the lid then print a test page.
The next is resetting the ink level on a canon printer. This should reset automatically when the cartridge is replaced with an original canon cartridge but fails to do so when the cartridge is refilled. To solve this, just press the stop and ok button at the same time for five seconds then release.
Now, let us talk about refilling canon ink cartridges. Note that refilling cartridges are not often the advised by manufacturers. Especially, because canon cartridges have a built-in chip that tells the printer how much ink it still has. This usually cannot be reset with a simple ink refill. Anyway, some people still prefer refilling ink cartridges to save on the hefty cost that original cartridges are usually sold at. So to safely refill your ink cartridge, here are the tips how. Remove the cartridge from the printer and put it upside down on a piece of newspaper to avoid messy ink spills. You will see the outlet port on the bottom side that is why you will have to turn it over. Now hold the syringe on top of the sponge surface and slowly drip the ink into the sponge. Wipe or dab excess ink from the surface of the sponge. Now return the cartridge into the printer but do not use it yet. Allow up to four hours for the sponge to fully absorb the ink before you start using the cartridge again.
Next, maintain your printer in top form by occasionally cleaning you cartridge. Though some can be cleaned automatically because there is computer software that can do that, some are still best cleaned manually. Before doing this for your hp ink, Lexmark printer ink or canon printer cartridges, consult your manual if this is advisable first. Remove the ink cartridge from the printer. Find the contacts on the ink cartridge, often times at the back of the cartridge and are copper or gold. Use a dry cleaning cloth to wipe off residue from the contacts. Wipe the rest of the cartridge to remove dirt and spots. Use a little bit of rubbing alcohol on the cloth to clean the print head from top to bottom then leave to dry before putting the cartridge back into the printer. Once dry, you can now reinstall the cartridge into its place in the printer.
Lastly, dispose of your used
canon printer cartridges the responsible and eco-friendly way. This goes the same for any kind of ink cartridge you have, may it be an
hp ink or
Lexmark printer ink cartridge. Most manufacturers have recycling programs where in you can send used cartridges in postage paid enveloped so they can correctly recycle of remanufacture cartridges rather than having them go into a landfill. It is important to do your part and help in the effort of reducing e-waste that goes into landfills because these can have adverse effects on the environment.
